Hostinec pod Drnem – Jiří Havlíček Hoješín pancake
The Pod Drnem inn is run by the company Pod Drnem, s.r.o., which follows on from the original Pod Drnem Refreshment business, first opened on 6.30.1990. The company and the inn are run by Olga Havlíčková and Jiří Havlíček.
The Hoješín pancake originated partly from memory from childhood when Jiří's grandmother made pancakes on noodles and the children could fry pieces of pancake directly on the plates of the stove. Later, when the inn was in operation, the couple spent their holidays hiking in the Jeseníky Mountains, where they ran out of bread on the last day but had meat left over. They found the rest of the flour in the supplies and remembered their grandmother's pancakes. So they tasted the meat roasted on the fire with a flour cake, which they roasted on a hot stone and enjoyed it very much. And so they thought, why not provide a similar experience to their guests? The flour pancake was very popular with the guests, which is why it later became their regional product.
The GOURMET TRAIL begins at Pod Drnem, which in 2013 connected the premises of local certified producers with the theme of good food and drink created from the resources of the local region by local people. They only joined the trial in 2018 to support the local economy of the entire region. At every point of the trail, an unusual experience awaits the visitor, which will be remembered for a long time.
The Pod Drnem inn passed the Iron Mountains regional product certification in 2015, and holding the certificate means belonging to the local region.
You can taste a flour pancake prepared on a hot stone grill and served with grilled meat at the Pod Drnem inn in Hoješín near Seč during the holiday months in July and August.
